Hi, I’m Nicole Salkaus, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Florida with over 20 years of experience in education.
I’ve worked as a teacher, school counselor, and school administrator, which gives me real insight into the stress, pressure, and emotional demands of helping professions.
Those experiences shape how I show up as a therapist—practical, compassionate, and grounded.
How can I help you?
I support the “worried well.” Adults who are feeling overwhelmed, burned out, anxious, or stuck in unhelpful thought patterns—especially those who spend their days caring for others. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you identify unhelpful thinking and build realistic tools to manage stress, anxiety, and life transitions.
My Philosophy on Mental Health
I believe mental health isn’t about fixing yourself—it’s about understanding your patterns, building healthier responses to stress, and giving yourself permission to grow. Small, intentional changes can create meaningful shifts over time.
How Do I Practice Self-Compassion?
Self-compassion for me looks like yoga, walking, and being intentional with my time—especially with the people I love. I offer telehealth sessions after most people get off work, so therapy can fit into real life and feel like an act of self-care, not another obligation.
Fun Facts About Me:
I’ve flown a gyroplane and a powered parachute—because sometimes growth looks like trying something a little outside your comfort zone.
